Unearth the Past
About
This is a historic bridge hidden beneath the landscape of Charlesgate Park. Originally built where the Muddy River met the Charles River, the bridge carried a historic bridle path across the water and helped connect the Emerald Necklace to the Charles River. Over the 20th century, changes to the river and construction of highways and roadways buried the bridge and severed this connection. Today, the bridge remains an important piece of the landscape's history, and the Charlesgate Revitalization Project envisions uncovering it and restoring the Muddy River around it once again.
