About
Founded in the spring of 1942 to support the American war effort, the Fenway Victory Gardens are one of two remaining World War II Victory Gardens in the United States. (The other is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.) The Victory Gardens, and 20 million others like it, supplied nearly half of all vegetable produce during the war. Today, the Gardens consist of nearly 500 plots over 7 acres of the Back Bay Fens, supporting more than 350 gardeners.
